The Cowboy's Lament - The Streets of Laredo
I hope everybody enjoys this performance of The Streets of Laredo - also known as The Cowboy's Lament.
I arranged this for piano when my father passed away to play in his funeral as I had fond memories of him playing this melody on the accordion. It was one of his favourite tunes.
As is the case with such events I had very little time between him passing and the funeral service in which to arrange the music, but I decided, when I opted to play it earlier this year to leave the arrangement as it was for his funeral, rather than to revise it and add complexity.
I have decided to release this very personal performance to remember him on father's day and so that all our family and friends can have this music as another way to remember him.
This was recorded in concert at Fairhaven United Reformed Church (The White Church) in January 2022 on an antique Bechstein piano.
